Lakiya

A kindergarten in Lakiya was set on fire just before the start of the school year. A resident of Tel Sheva was arrested on suspicion of committing the act because his wife was not hired. Officials condemned the attempt to turn the education system into an arena for personal conflicts.

Police and Border Police forces raided the homes of suspects in Lakiya as part of an economic enforcement operation against crime instigators. During the searches, approximately 260,000 shekels in cash, thousands of dollars, and Jordanian dinars were seized. A Range Rover and a Toyota were impounded as part of debt collection, and two residents of the town were detained for questioning.

Reports of ongoing gunfire over the weekend in the Negev region led to police activity in Hura and Lakiya. During the operation, large quantities of weapons and ammunition of various types were seized. "The Prime Minister must understand the magnitude of the event."

The Southern District of the police conducted an operation and discovered a large amount of ammunition following a shooting from the Lakiya area that alarmed residents of the town of Carmit in the Negev. Among the weapons seized were M-16 rifles and 19 grenade launcher rounds.

During the operation, forces spotted a suspect who fired shots and fled on foot towards a wadi. Police and combat units conducted a foot pursuit using lighting equipment, eventually locating the suspect hiding in bushes, while two additional suspects were also arrested.
