Lakiya Resident Indicted for Inciting Terrorism on Instagram
State prosecutors indicted 20-year-old Ahmed Abu Muhareb from Lakiya for publishing content praising Hamas, calling for the destruction of Tel Aviv, and inciting terror attacks.

The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment at the Beer Sheva District Court against 20-year-old Ahmed Abu Muhareb from Lakiya. Prosecutors have requested that he remain in custody until the end of the legal proceedings.
According to the indictment, filed by attorney Walid Al-Baz of the Southern District Attorney's Office, Abu Muhareb operated a private Instagram account with approximately 1,300 followers. Throughout 2025 and 2026, he allegedly shared content praising, supporting, and encouraging acts of terrorism, as well as identifying with terrorist organizations.
Praise for Hamas Leaders and Calls for Jihad
The indictment details several posts, including a video clip from the speech of Hamas military wing commander Muhammad Deif on the morning of October 7, 2023, declaring the launch of the terror attack against Israel and calling for jihad.
In other posts, Abu Muhareb allegedly shared footage of terrorist Adi Tamimi carrying out a shooting attack, alongside praise for his actions. He also shared images of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar with speeches glorifying martyrdom, calls for the destruction of Tel Aviv, and propaganda videos from the Houthi movement showing missile launches targeting Israel.
The prosecution stated that the nature and circumstances of these publications create a tangible possibility of inspiring further acts of terror. Abu Muhareb is charged with incitement to terrorism and identification with a terrorist organization.
