Defense Alliance

Following Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, Iran may also join the new defense alliance. A senior official in Tehran claims the invitation has already been received—and if approved, the nature of the alliance could change completely.

An investigation published in the British 'Telegraph' deals with one of the central goals of the Islamic defense alliance, of which Saudi Arabia is a key member.

Saudi Arabia announced that 13 countries have officially joined a multinational maritime defense alliance, marking its formal launch. The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated that the third planning meeting for the alliance was held in Jeddah with representatives from 39 nations in attendance.

The defense agreement signed last week between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan is moving from the stage of declarations to implementation on the ground. The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the three countries will establish permanent political and military coordination mechanisms, turning the alliance into a coordinated operational force.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey have signed an agreement to establish a "Muslim NATO," and the Turkish Foreign Minister announced that Egypt may join later. The cooperation is expected to block the plan to move goods from India to Europe via Israel and the expansion of the Abraham Accords.

On August 7, 2026, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the "Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense." The document, signed by the leaders of the three nations, states that any armed attack on one party will be considered an attack on all. The agreement covers security cooperation, including training, exchange of expertise, and defense industry development.

The Turkish Foreign Minister revealed that Cairo may join the defense alliance that his country signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, "after settling technical issues." He said the agreement is identical to Article 5 of NATO, according to which an attack on a member of the alliance is considered an attack on all.

Tehran states that the opening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the US accepting all of Iran's conditions. Amid rising regional tensions, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have formed a defense alliance.
