US President Donald Trump announced Friday that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles will step down from her position following the Republican midterm election losses. She will be succeeded by close aide Stephen Miller, effective Monday.

Trump praised Wiles on his Truth Social platform, writing that she did an exceptional job and thanking her for her service. Wiles, the first woman in history to serve as White House Chief of Staff, noted that her commitment to the president remains absolute. Wiles recently recovered from breast cancer and brings over 40 years of political experience to her career.

Stephen Miller, currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, is widely regarded as a hardline conservative figure. His appointment marks a significant shift in White House leadership.

Wiles's departure follows a series of high-profile exits by senior women in Trump's second administration, drawing criticism from Democratic lawmakers over the replacement of female officials with male appointees.
