FBI Arrests Meghan Markle’s Father in Florida Amid Abuse Material Probe
Thomas Markle Sr., the 82-year-old estranged father of Meghan Markle, was arrested by the FBI in Florida amid an international investigation into child sexual abuse material.

Thomas Markle Sr., the 82-year-old estranged father of Meghan Markle, was arrested by the FBI at a nursing home in Florida, according to British media reports. The arrest follows an international investigation sparked by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., who handed over materials found among his father's belongings to the Philippine police. More than a dozen federal agents raided the facility, handcuffed Markle, and transported him in an ambulance as the probe expands across multiple jurisdictions.
The case began when Thomas Markle Jr. discovered thousands of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors mixed among family mementos. The 60-year-old son delivered the files to authorities in the Philippines and subsequently alerted the FBI in the United States. Philippine Interior Minister Juanito Victor Remulla stated that approximately 7,500 illicit images were recovered from devices linked to the suspect, with some victims as young as ten years old. Local police announced they are nearing formal indictments.
Investigators have also uncovered additional suspicious material in a storage unit in Mexico, triggering a parallel criminal inquiry. Meanwhile, FBI agents have prepared searches for storage facilities rented by Markle in Hollywood, suspecting a third cache of illicit materials. Markle, who was recently transferred to a Florida facility specializing in memory care, strongly denies the allegations and has claimed to suffer from dementia since the investigation commenced.
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been estranged from her father since her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry. Responding to the unfolding scandal, the Duchess released a statement expressing deep distress and emphasizing that her decision to maintain distance and shield her children was made for their protection.
