US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Jason Redding-Quiñones, has resigned from his post, US Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on Friday. Redding-Quiñones headed the prosecutor's office that led a controversial investigation into former senior US administration officials over alleged involvement in a political and legal conspiracy against President Donald Trump.

According to Reuters reports, the resignation was announced today, though no details were provided regarding the circumstances of his departure or the identity of his successor. Redding-Quiñones was appointed to the position in August 2025 by Trump, following his confirmation by the Senate, making him the first federal prosecutor confirmed during the president's second term.

The resignation comes amid ongoing difficulties in the probe known as the 'Great Conspiracy,' in which the Department of Justice sought to examine whether former law enforcement and intelligence community officials conspired to harm Trump through criminal and intelligence investigations. The matters under review included the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and probes led by Special Counsel Jack Smith following Trump's first term, including the classified documents case at Mar-a-Lago.

In September, Joseph diGenova, a pro-Trump attorney appointed to lead the inquiry, resigned following disagreements with DOJ leadership over the investigation's slow pace, which had yet to yield indictments. Attorney Kurt Olsen subsequently left the investigative team as well. The probe focused on figures including former CIA Director John Brennan and other officials from the Barack Obama administration.
