The Tel Aviv culinary scene is facing another major blow as "Tiger Lily", one of the most prominent names that introduced mainstream Israeli diners to Thai cuisine, prepares to permanently close its doors by the end of 2026, just over a month from now.

The closure of the restaurant's final branch will officially mark the end of the entire brand after more than 11 years of operation. During its run, Tiger Lily established itself as one of the city's most popular Asian dining spots, but the chain is now shutting down due to the severe crisis shaking the Israeli restaurant industry in general and Tel Aviv in particular, according to reports published Sunday.

Opened during the peak of the Asian culinary boom in Israel, the restaurant offered an accessible and inviting interpretation of Bangkok street food flavors, ingredients, and spices. While the venue enjoyed bustling diner traffic for years, the brand has experienced a gradual decline in recent times.

The shutdown of the final branch follows the closure of its Ramat HaHayal location about two years ago. Now, the brand's last remaining stronghold in Tel Aviv is ceasing operations, a decision confirmed by restaurant owner Moshe Harel.

The closure of Tiger Lily is part of a broader wave of painful shutdowns sweeping the local restaurant sector. A combination of sharp increases in raw material costs, surging labor and rent expenses, and ongoing economic and security uncertainty has created an almost impossible operating environment for many establishments.

The deep industry crisis recently struck several other prominent institutions. The nightlife and culinary group owned by the Avidan brothers filed for a stay of proceedings due to accumulated debts estimated at over 10 million shekels, while the long-standing seafood institution "Hatzadef" in Rishon LeZion recently announced its permanent closure after a quarter-century of continuous operation.

For Tiger Lily's loyal clientele, the upcoming weeks will serve as a final window of opportunity to enjoy a farewell meal from the familiar menu. The restaurant will continue to operate as usual in the coming weeks ahead of its final curtain call scheduled for December.
