Following a significant price drop: 360% jump in sales of luxury models
The price reduction of the iPhone 17 series ahead of the next generation is clearly felt in the market: within a few days, a 360% jump in device sales was recorded on Wolt, with most purchases focusing on the more expensive models.
Preparations for the launch of the iPhone 18 series, expected in the coming weeks, are already affecting the device market in Israel. Data obtained by "Israel Hayom" indicates a sharp increase in the volume of purchases through Wolt after the prices of iPhone 17 models dropped. Within a few days, a 360% increase in sales was recorded on the platform.
The price reduction comes after it was reported about a week ago that Apple instructed official importers in Israel, including iDigital, KSP, Machsanei Hashmal, and iStore, to reduce the prices of iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models by 90 dollars, approximately 270 shekels. The iStore chain stated that the reduction in the chain is expected to reach approximately 350 shekels, including VAT, for all Pro and Pro Max models.
One of the prices recorded during this period was 2,899 shekels for an iPhone 17 Air with 256 GB of storage, sold through Dynamic on Wolt. For comparison, the same model was offered at Ivory for 2,945 shekels. The Pro model was sold through the platform for 4,269 shekels. According to the data, the price reduction was reflected not only in an increase in the number of purchases but also in their significant concentration on advanced models.
Of all the devices purchased on Wolt, 49% were Pro Max models and 36% were Pro models. Regarding the distribution of orders across the country, Tel Aviv is in first place with 29% of all purchases. It is followed by the Sharon region with 14% and Rishon LeZion with 12%, while the rest of the purchases are distributed among 8 other regions. At the same time, companies and chains in the field are preparing for the launch of the new generation and increasing stocks. Dynamic by Cellcom holds the largest market share and operates especially in Eilat, against the background of the VAT exemption, followed by Partner and Pelephone. Partner even launched a price comparison campaign against KSP.
