Jerusalem Teacher Receives 100,000 NIS Compensation for Car Accident
A young Jerusalem teacher injured in a car accident will receive 100,000 NIS in compensation from Wesure insurance after reaching a court-approved settlement.

A young teacher from Jerusalem, injured in a car accident while sitting in the backseat, will receive 100,000 NIS in compensation from the insurance company Wesure. The settlement was reached a few months after the lawsuit was filed by attorney Itamar Ben Ami, and before the case went to trial. Judge Zivan Alimi of the Ramla Magistrate's Court recently approved the agreement, giving it the force of a judgment.
The accident occurred in June of last year when the young woman was 23 years old. She was riding in the backseat of a private car, behind the driver. The vehicle stopped at a red light behind another car, and when the light turned green, the driver accelerated. However, the car ahead had not yet moved, and the vehicle collided with it forcefully. As a result of the impact, the young woman was thrown forward and struck her head against the headrest of the driver's seat.
Injuries and Impact on Work
Following the accident, the young woman suffered a minor fracture to her nose, which eventually healed completely, and a fracture to one of her front teeth. In the lawsuit filed against Wesure, which insured the vehicle under compulsory insurance, it was argued that the injuries made it difficult for her to continue her work as a teacher. Her role requires her to stand for hours in front of students, speak continuously, and maintain concentration.
It was further claimed that the young woman was forced to miss work for medical treatments and that her earning capacity was impaired. Consequently, her attorney demanded compensation for loss of wages, social rights, medical and travel expenses, family assistance, pain and suffering, and future damages.
Court Approval and Additional Cases
The settlement agreement states that the insurance company will pay the young woman 100,000 NIS without admitting liability for the accident or its damages. In return, the young woman agreed to waive any further claims or demands arising from the accident, including future damages. The agreement was approved by the court and became a judgment.
In another case involving significant compensation for a relatively minor injury, a lawyer from Rehovot was injured in a car accident on Highway 1 in early 2022. The young man began suffering from tinnitus in his left ear, and a medical examination determined a low medical disability. Although an ear, nose, and throat expert noted that the impairment was not expected to significantly affect his functioning, the parties reached a settlement agreement under which Ayalon Insurance will pay him 122,781 NIS. The court approved this agreement as well.
