Apple may raise prices for the iPhone 17 series in the United States as early as this coming Monday, August 10, according to a new rumor published on the Chinese social network Weibo. It is important to emphasize that at this stage, the report refers only to the American market, and there is no information indicating an expected price change in Israel or other countries.
Leaker Fixed Focus Digital claimed in a post that there are rumors circulating about a change in iPhone 17 prices that will take effect on August 10. However, even he did not state unequivocally that the price hike will actually happen. In the same publication, it was claimed with greater certainty that Apple has canceled plans to increase production capacity on some production lines from 15% to 30%, although it is unclear which components or products the change refers to.
The possibility of further price increases comes after Apple already raised prices in the US for Mac computers, iPads, and other products in June, against the backdrop of a sharp rise in memory and storage costs. In that same round, prices for the iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, Studio Display monitor, and accessories remained unchanged.
The timing is particularly interesting ahead of the company's next round of launches. Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone next month. The regular iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, on the other hand, are expected to arrive only in the spring of 2027. This means that the iPhone 17 is expected to remain the main and more accessible model in Apple's lineup in the coming months as well — which may explain why the company can change its price separately from the next generation.
If Apple does indeed update prices in the US on Monday, it is still unclear whether the price hike will apply to the entire series or only to some of the models. Current prices in the US start at $599 for the iPhone 17e, $799 for the iPhone 17, $999 for the iPhone Air, $1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro, and $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
As of now, this is just a rumor, and the important point for consumers outside the US is that there is no indication in the report of a global price hike. That is, even if Apple changes prices as early as Monday, according to the information currently available, this is a move that concerns only the American market.
