Orel Mallul from Kibbutz Gvat in northern Israel, who publicly shared her experience of a severe sexual assault earlier this year, is facing a continuous campaign of harassment, threats, and identity theft. The situation escalated last week with the disclosure that her medical file at the Clalit Health Services HMO was breached.

In an interview with Nessly Barda and Yoav Limor, Mallul detailed the security breach and the ignored warnings she had previously issued. Since going public in August, she has experienced relentless attacks, including threats against key witnesses in her legal case, hacking attempts, and identity impersonation.

Medical File Breach and Security Flaws

According to Mallul, the breach occurred over a two-month period between September 1 and November 2, during which her ID number was linked to the hacker's phone number. Clalit's chief information security officer later confirmed the modus operandi, explaining that the perpetrators changed the phone number to receive verification codes and used her full personal details, including credit card information, to reset her password with inside assistance.

Mallul believes the individuals who assaulted her are behind the campaign, aimed at extracting medical data, deleting records, and attempting to portray her as mentally unstable. The police have concluded their investigation and transferred the case to the State Attorney's Office, while Mallul awaits indictments.

Official Responses

Clalit Health Services stated that it views the suspected privacy violation with utmost severity. The HMO launched a comprehensive investigation and filed a police complaint, transferring all relevant data to authorities. Clalit maintained that no security breach was found in its systems, adding that any internal misuse of access will be handled severely.

«As soon as the complaint was received, Clalit launched a comprehensive investigation and filed a complaint with the authorities, transferring all information in its possession.»

Meanwhile, the Israel Police reported that an investigation was opened, including suspect interrogations and sigint operations, though current findings have not linked the investigated suspect to the specific acts described. Authorities stated they will review any new information to uncover the truth.
