Nike Introduces $250 Recovery Slides Featuring Vibration and Heat
The new Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide, developed in collaboration with Hyperice, is designed for post-workout recovery. The model will be available in the US starting September 29th for $249.
Nike and Hyperice have announced the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide, recovery slides that provide both heat and vibration. According to the companies, the model will be available to the public starting September 29th for $249, sold via the Nike and Hyperice websites as well as major US retailers like Best Buy and Dick's Sporting Goods. The Hyperslide marks the second collaboration between Nike and Hyperice, a manufacturer of recovery equipment. Their previous project was the Hyperboot, a high-top shoe capable of heating and inflating to provide air-pressure massage. Hyperice states that because the Hyperslide is classified as a recovery accessory, it may be eligible for health tax reimbursements in the US.
Despite their unconventional design, the technological component is quite sophisticated. It consists of what the companies call Hyperslide Pods: units that attach magnetically to the top of each slide to deliver heat and vibration to the foot. According to the companies, these are designed to help feet relax and recover from the bottom up. The slides offer three heat levels and three vibration intensities, operating in a temperature range of 42.8 to 47.2 degrees Celsius. The companies recommend wearing them with socks, a suggestion that may seem like a fashion faux pas but is likely practical when using foot-heating technology.
The Pods connect to the Hyperice app via Bluetooth for custom settings, though users can also adjust levels using buttons on the units themselves. The modules feature indicator lights for heat, vibration, and battery status. The battery is rated for approximately one hour of use; assuming a 10-minute recovery session, this allows for about six sessions before needing a recharge via the built-in USB-C port. The slides themselves feature a low-profile Nike Air Zoom sole and a cushioned, textured footbed. The model will arrive in black and a light shade called Orewood, available in 15 US sizes. Unlike the Hyperboot, the Hyperslide does not include air-pressure massage, focusing exclusively on heat and vibration therapy.
