Manchester United staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to defeat Roma 3–2 at Old Trafford, alleviating mounting pressure and keeping Michael Carrick’s managerial tenure alive in the UEFA Champions League.

Roma capitalized on early defensive errors to claim a commanding lead. Matias Soule opened the scoring in the 11th minute following a careless turnover by Kobbie Mainoo, and Donyell Malen doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 17th minute after a handball by Ayden Heaven. The early deficit sparked protests from home supporters, who threw tennis balls onto the pitch in a demonstration directed at the club’s ownership.

Trailing 2–0 at halftime, United transformed their performance after the break. Matheus Cunha orchestrated the dramatic turnaround, scoring the equalizer in the 83rd minute before netting the winner three minutes later. Cunha was subsequently shown a second yellow card for removing his shirt during celebrations, leading to a 91st-minute sending-off, but the dramatic finish secured a vital victory that halted a turbulent winless run.
