The acting Director General of the Central Elections Committee, Adv. Dean Livne, addressed in Ilana Dayan's program on Galei Tzahal the claims directed against the committee by elements in the coalition, and warned against attempts to undermine public trust in the election results. According to him, the danger is not the falsification of the votes themselves, but the creation of a false public perception that the elections are not being conducted properly.

"I am not afraid of a compromise in the integrity of the elections, our substantive fear is that they will cause people to believe that something improper happened in order to create anarchy," stated Livne.

When Dayan addressed the issue during the interview: "It is impossible to falsify election results in Israel, but it is possible to make us think they were falsified," Livne replied in agreement:

"Exactly. And this is one of the substantive fears we have. Attempts, mainly by foreign elements, to cause the delegitimization of the election process and of institutions in Israel in general. To make people think that something is not right, even though everything is right, in order to create anarchy, to create division, and to disintegrate our democracy."
