Eisenkot Pledges State Inquiry and Slams Conscription Policy

Speaking at a political conference in Eilat, opposition figure and party leader Gadi Eisenkot outlined his platform ahead of the upcoming elections. Eisenkot vowed that if he forms the next government, a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 events will be established within the first two weeks of taking office.

"The most important thing is that until we establish a state commission of inquiry according to the law, with the best researchers who will leave no stone unturned to examine what happened on that day, in the military and political ranks, and what happened a year and a decade before — we will not be able to move forward," Eisenkot stated.

Denials of Nuclear Claims and Criticism of Netanyahu

Addressing recent media reports, Eisenkot strongly denied claims that he had messaged American officials indicating openness to a nuclear Iran, labeling the reports an absolute lie and a threat to Israeli societal resilience. He also commented on investigations surrounding Yonatan Urich, an aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the alleged leak and foreign-funding suspicions unacceptable.

Haredi Conscription and Regional Strategy

Turning to domestic policy and military recruitment, Eisenkot criticized the current exemption policy for ultra-Orthodox seminary students, noting the heavy burden on reservists. On regional matters, he stressed that Hamas must be dismantled, and emphasized the importance of strengthening peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan.
