Kineret Barashi loses lawsuit against Yaya Fink and Yair Golan

The chairman of the Central Elections Committee rejected the petition of attorney Kineret Barashi against the chairman of the 'Democrats' party Yair Golan and public activist Yaya Fink, ordering her to pay legal costs in the amount of 3,000 shekels. The petition was filed following Barashi's claim that the use of their military ranks as part of their political campaign was improper and constituted prohibited propaganda.

Golan, a major general in the reserves and former Deputy Chief of Staff, and Fink, who has served long months in the reserves since the outbreak of the war, rejected the claims and received full backing from the committee. Following the decision, Fink published a post on his X account celebrating the legal victory: "Kineret Barashi lost. She petitioned against Yair Golan and me because of the use of our ranks in the campaign. The chairman of the Elections Committee rejected the petition and ruled 3000 NIS against her."

The committee's ruling confirms that presenting a military background and ranks as part of election propaganda is completely legitimate and sets a price tag for attempts to attack candidates based on their service. For Fink and Golan, beyond the procedural victory, this is a significant reinforcement of the central message of their campaign—highlighting their security experience and active service for the country.
