Iran Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Holds Rare Meeting Amid Security Crisis
Iranian state media reported a rare meeting between Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf amid ongoing conflicts with Israel and the USA, while questions persist over his health and the fate of his late father's will.
State media in Iran reported that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei met with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to discuss the ongoing confrontation with Israel and the USA. This marks a rare announcement, as the junior Khamenei has not been seen in public since his appointment in March following the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, in a joint US-Israeli strike in Tehran.
Security and Economic Crisis
According to the Tasnim news agency, the two officials reviewed military, economic, and psychological warfare developments. The meeting emphasized strengthening national unity and public mobilization to support the regime. Ghalibaf presented a report on parliamentary activities since the outbreak of the war and plans to cope with the security crisis.
"The meeting underscored the critical need for absolute state unity and steadfastness against foreign aggression," state media outlets reported.
However, the announcement failed to address ongoing questions regarding Mojtaba Khamenei's health status. Since his appointment on March 8, no verified visual or audio footage of him has been published, despite written directives issued in his name.
The Mystery of the Destroyed Will
Simultaneously, a controversy arose surrounding the political will of the late leader Ali Khamenei. Saeed Solh-Mirzaei, a member of the Assembly of Experts, claimed that the original will and a computer containing a scanned copy were destroyed in a fire following the February 28 strike. Although he later walked back his statements via Tasnim, noting that access to the compound remains restricted, the political testament has still not been published more than seven months after the assassination.
