Netanyahu and Katz Warn of Renewed Iranian Nuclear Push and Regional Threats
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of renewed Iranian nuclear ambitions and regional threats during a military graduation ceremony, as the IDF maintains high multi-front readiness.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the officer graduation ceremony at Bahad 1 on Wednesday, warning of renewed Iranian efforts to develop a nuclear weapon. Citing recent intelligence, Netanyahu stated that Mojtaba has followed in his father's footsteps, pushing forward in an attempt to reach a nuclear bomb, which necessitates the overthrow of the regime. He confirmed that this directive has been issued to the security apparatus.
Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed these concerns, emphasizing that Iran is currently at its weakest historical point, which could push the regime toward extreme measures against Israel. Katz warned that any direct Iranian attack would result in widespread destruction. He also noted that authorities have detected attempts by Iran and its proxies to orchestrate attacks intended to influence the upcoming Israeli elections, promising severe retaliation against anyone who harms IDF troops or Israeli citizens.
Addressing regional security, Katz reiterated that Israel will not withdraw from security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip. He warned that if Hezbollah joins an Iranian assault, it will face devastating strikes, expanding Israel's permanent security zone deeper into southern Lebanon toward Nabatieh and the Litani River. In the Gaza Strip, the IDF maintains control over roughly 70 percent of the territory, operating daily to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and eliminate remaining operatives involved in the October 7 atrocities.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir also addressed the graduates, drawing parallels between the struggles of the 1948 War of Independence and the ongoing multi-front conflict. Zamir praised the historic generation of commanders emerging from the profound trauma of October 7, stressing that the military remains in a state of high multi-arena readiness. He underscored that the army will not allow its enemies to regroup, highlighting recent operations to neutralize terrorists involved in past massacres.
According to senior political sources, Tehran is attempting to accelerate weaponization components that previously stalled its nuclear program. Both Israel and the United States have signaled that military options remain on the table. Regional tensions have prompted heightened alert levels across the IDF and the deployment of additional US military assets, including aerial refuelers and a carrier strike group, as leaders in Washington and Jerusalem coordinate defense strategies against Iranian regional aggression.
