A total of 449 new officers graduated from the IDF's 76th land forces officer training course on Wednesday. The ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and the entire General Staff forum.

Officers tempered in combat

The cadets completed over seven months of intensive training, which included field training and specialized courses at IDF training bases. Many of the graduates fought on various fronts during the ongoing war before arriving at the course, with some sustaining injuries and returning to battle, and others losing comrades and commanders.

Defense Minister Israel Katz delivered a stern warning to Iran and its proxies during the ceremony, stating that the Iranian regime is at its weakest point ever and might resort to extreme steps against Israel. "If Iran attacks Israel, Iran will burn!" Katz declared, adding that the military detects attempts by enemies to stage attacks aimed at influencing upcoming elections in Israel.

Strategic buffer zones and threats

Katz also addressed the northern front, reiterating that Israel will not withdraw from security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip. He warned that if Hezbollah joins an attack, it will suffer severe blows, and additional areas in southern Lebanon will become part of Israel's permanent security zone.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir congratulated the new officers, emphasizing their historic role. "You are a historic generation in the history of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. You have led the IDF in fierce battles and changed the security reality around us," Zamir stated.

Following the event, defense officials distanced themselves from certain political rhetoric regarding the Iranian nuclear program, noting that intelligence does not currently indicate Tehran is operating on a large scale to advance nuclear weaponization toward established red lines.
