Security has been significantly reinforced around Deputy Minister Almog Cohen and his family following severe and specific death threats. The Prime Minister's Office Magen unit, in coordination with the Israel Police and Shin Bet, deployed guards to Cohen's residence and assigned police escorts to his family members.

The escalation follows an indictment filed this week against 49-year-old Raz Weinberg from Ein HaHoresh for 21 posts on the X platform inciting the murder of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, government ministers, lawmakers, and supporters. In response to one of Cohen's posts, the defendant wrote explicitly violent threats against the deputy minister.

Cohen's office stated that they do not comment on security arrangements while emphasizing that the deputy minister will continue serving Israeli citizens without fear. Meanwhile, security responsibility for Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot was transferred to the Shin Bet's Unit 730 following months of disputes and threats against his family.

The decision to upgrade Eisenkot's protection came after the Yashar! party filed a police complaint against Yossi Cohen, who allegedly threatened Eisenkot's wife, Chana, during a protest outside their Herzliya home. The suspect reportedly shouted severe threats regarding their late son Gall, who fell in combat in the Gaza Strip in December 2023.
