Iran Lifts Missile Range Limits as US Confirms Strikes in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with 12 international counterparts as IRGC officials announced the removal of missile range limits following US strikes targeting an air defense system on Qشم Island.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Saturday that he held discussions with 12 regional and international counterparts over the past 48 hours following US airstrikes in Iran. The talks focused on regional developments and the consequences of American and Israeli actions, with Araghchi emphasizing the need to respect state sovereignty, halt threats, and prevent the expansion of regional insecurity. His diplomatic contacts included the foreign ministers of Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cyprus, Turkey, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Iraq, and Pakistan. In a statement posted on Instagram, Araghchi called on regional nations to prevent the spread of insecurity and stressed Tehran's opposition to harmful foreign intervention.
Simultaneously, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesperson Hossein Mohebhi stated at a press conference that Iran has lifted its ballistic missile range limitations. Responding to a question regarding a directive to counter threats without geographical constraints, Mohebhi declared that the limitation has been removed, warning that future escalations would reveal surprising capabilities. He added that underground missile production facilities have been established to ensure continuous manufacturing despite ongoing military strikes. Meanwhile, military spokesperson Mohammad Akrami-Nia warned that American bases and interests outside Western Asia remain within range of Iranian missiles and drones, adding that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Iranian conditions are met.
The recent escalations follow US President Donald Trump's confirmation that American forces carried out targeted airstrikes against a small air defense system installed on Qشم Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Describing the operation as a limited military action, Trump told reporters that US forces destroyed the anti-aircraft installation within minutes. State media in Iran reported two explosions near Souza on Qشم Island, though no immediate details regarding casualties or structural damage were released as Washington weighs its broader strategic options.
