Eyal Shani Stunned by Customer's Review: "Vagina? Wow"
During the filming of a new report airing today, the renowned chef encountered an unexpected comment from a diner that left him speechless and prompted a philosophical reflection.
After Eyal Shani revealed the story behind his nickname, "King of Tomatoes," on a recent episode of "MasterChef," the chef is back in the headlines. This time, it is part of a new report airing today, Friday, on "Friday News" on Kan 11.
In a clip released ahead of the broadcast, Shani is seen preparing food for diners at his restaurant and discussing the dishes with them. When one diner was asked for her thoughts on the food, she replied to Shani: "It's a vagina, a good vagina, that's what it is."
Shani, clearly unprepared for the comparison, paused for a moment and asked in astonishment:
"Vagina? Wow."
The diner quickly clarified that she did not mean it in a negative way, but Shani was already completely drawn into the description. "Thank you for telling me that, because... suddenly it illuminates it for me from a completely different direction," the chef said, before turning to the camera crew: "Did you hear what she said? What an interpretation!"
It seems the unusual compliment resonated with him. Shani continued to reflect on her words:
"Listen, it gives me so many chills, there are so many interpretations of what she said."
He then paused for a few seconds, looking thoughtful and moved by the meaning he attributed to the words. Later, Shani tried to explain the feeling the compliment aroused in him:
"...this thing that as soon as you touch it and are drawn in, it expresses this essence, and it is also a source from which the holiness of life flows."
At the end, Shani returned to the diner, thanked her once more, and said: "Beautiful, thank you for that." Thus, a short sentence from a diner about the food turned in an instant into another interpretation from the school of one of the chefs most identified with a unique style of speech in the Israeli culinary world.
