Dan Agrees to Acquire Mesi'ei Shasha for 180 Million Shekels in Major Transport Deal
Dan Public Transportation signed an MOU to acquire Mesi'ei Shasha for 180 million shekels, marking its first major deal under new CEO Ofir Karni.
Dan Public Transportation has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire the bus and shuttle operations of Mesi'ei Shasha for approximately 180 million shekels. This marks the first major acquisition by Dan under its new ownership structure led by CEO Ofir Karni, following the acquisition of Jacques Yulzari in 2023 which joined United Tours.
Business Expansion and Operations
Founded in 1979 and managed by Arye Shasha, Mesi'ei Shasha operates over 200 buses and minibuses, employing more than 230 drivers and subcontractors who will remain in their positions following the transaction. The company's annual revenues are estimated at roughly 200 million shekels, providing transportation services to public institutions, local authorities, factories, high-tech companies, and private clients.
"This strategic acquisition strengthens our position in the transportation and logistics market, expanding our service footprint across key sectors," noted industry analysts following the announcement.
Dan's Market Presence
Dan ranks as the second-largest public transportation company in the country, operating about 3,000 buses—70% of which are electric—across more than 200 routes nationwide. The group handles approximately 200 million passengers annually and generates estimated annual revenues of 2.5 billion shekels, with an EBITDA of around 500 million shekels.
