The Italian Football Federation is in turmoil over the freezing of Andrea Pirlo's appointment as national team coach. Following the failed attempt to recruit Pep Guardiola, technical director Paolo Maldini proposed Pirlo, but the latter's ties to the Russian betting company Fonbet have sparked a public outcry.
