Israel has been monitoring Turkish buildup in northern Syria for some time. As it happened, the political and military clocks synchronized, but that is no reason to forgo an attack. In Israel, it is already understood: a conflict with Turkey in the coming decade is not an implausible event.

The conversation between the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Turkish Chief of Staff took place two days after the strike on the Abu al-Duhur base in Syria. Conversely, newspapers identified with Erdogan and the country's most widely circulated newspaper chose not to feature it on their front pages.

Several airstrikes were carried out overnight in northwestern Syria, about 70 kilometers from the Turkish border, according to several reports.
