Coalition Funds

The Supreme Court issued an order nisi regarding a petition against the transfer of coalition funds to Haredi institutions and the Ministry of Settlements. The court froze 400 million shekels while releasing urgent budgets for local authorities and the rehabilitation of the North and South.

The Hiddush association and MK Naama Lazimi filed a petition regarding the convening of the Finance Committee during election recess and the transfer of approximately 460 million shekels in coalition funds. The Knesset and the Ministry of Finance maintain that the procedure was legal.

Public interest versus sectoral: just like in the well-known joke, when a rival transfers budgets to their partners it is «theft of the till», but when we do it, it is «concern for the citizens». A brilliant forecast: nothing is going to change.

The Finance Committee is convening today to discuss transfers totaling 16 billion shekels, including approximately 653 million shekels in coalition funds intended primarily for the ultra-Orthodox sector and settlers. Opposition members argue that such a large-scale distribution during the election recess exceeds the committee's authority.

The Knesset Finance Committee will vote on Wednesday to transfer hundreds of millions of shekels in coalition funds. A significant portion of the budget is allocated to the Ministry of Settlements and other government departments.
