Iran has deployed the Afghan-Shiite militia Liwa Fatemiyoun to eastern Iran to serve as a reserve force for suppressing potential domestic uprisings and internal security threats.

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians attended a regime rally in Tehran, vowing to defend the country amid escalating tensions with the US and Israel, as authorities launched a mass volunteer recruitment drive.

Tasnim news agency reports the elimination of Basij commander Abdulraouf Asmaki in southeastern Iran. The incident follows the recent appointment of conservative cleric Hossein Taeb to overhaul the militia.

Among the dead are four members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, as well as ten Basij members. According to Iranian reports, one of the munitions hit a residential house where a wedding was taking place, leading to the deaths of the four additional victims. "This is a war crime," senior government officials declared, clarifying: "This will not go unpunished."

Hossein Taeb, known for his ruthless security tactics in Iran, is returning as commander of the Basij. The appointment, backed by Mojtaba Khamenei, aims to tighten social control and suppress internal dissent amidst economic instability.

Iran's Supreme Leader has announced the appointment of Hossein Taeb as the new commander of the Basij. He previously held this position and served as head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, but left his post amid severe security failures against Israel.

Six senior military appointments were announced today, including a new Chief of General Staff and an official commander for the Revolutionary Guards. Hossein Taeb, dismissed after intelligence failures to prevent assassinations, returns to the top security echelon.
