The relationship between the Syrian leader al-Julani and the Druze residents in As-Suwayda remains tense. Community members are now demanding that final exams be held within their region rather than near Damascus.

As relations between Syria and Israel escalate, the situation for the Druze community in Syria is deteriorating. On Sunday, demonstrators blocked the road connecting Damascus to the Druze region of As-Suwayda, preventing students from reaching their examination centers.

A New York Times investigation describes the growing dependence of the Druze in As-Suwayda on Israeli backing against Damascus. The local militia maintains constant contact with Israel, while the province prepares for the possibility of a renewed confrontation with the Syrian regime.
