Yair Netanyahu under pressure? Twitter attack against candidates of the Ofer Winter list
The Prime Minister's son responded repeatedly on the X network to candidates of the "Amha Yisrael" party and warned that running independently without merging with Bezalel Smotrich would split the right-wing vote: "Mathematically there cannot be any other result - you will crown a government of Eisenkot, Yair Golan and Mansour Abbas."
Yair Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's son, launched an attack on the X network yesterday evening (Tuesday) against the candidates of the "Amha Yisrael" party led by Ofer Winter. He warned that an independent run by the party, without merging with Bezalel Smotrich, could split the right-wing vote and lead to the formation of a government led by Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan with the participation of Mansour Abbas.
The attack came after Yoseph Haddad announced that he would join Winter's party and be placed second on the list. "I am proud to embark on a joint political path together with Ofer Winter and with an amazing team that brings a new spirit to Israeli politics," Haddad wrote. According to him, the party will bring with it "a spirit of courage, of breaking the concept, of Israeli pride and patriotism" and will be "the story of these elections."
In another post, Haddad wrote:
"It is a privilege to fight for the State of Israel on the battlefield. It is a privilege to fight for Israel's truth before the whole world on the public diplomacy front. And now the time has come for me to fight for the State of Israel also in a new arena - in the place where they decide and influence the future of this country."
Netanyahu responded to both posts with an almost identical warning. According to him, if "Amha Yisrael" runs alone and does not unite with Smotrich, there are only three possible scenarios: the party will not pass the electoral threshold and will burn right-wing votes; it will pass but will push Smotrich below the electoral threshold; or both lists will not pass.
"Mathematically there cannot be any other result. This is a fact, not an opinion," Netanyahu wrote.
He added that the party members might be remembered "as the 'Tehiya' party is remembered as the one that brought the Rabin government and the Oslo disaster."
Netanyahu did not settle for responding to Haddad, and copied the same message to the posts of other candidates on Winter's list, including Tali Deri and Eran Ben-Ari. In each of the responses, he addressed the candidate by name, but repeated the same three scenarios.
