Yair Golan: “Defense Minister Katz Turns Judea and Samaria Into a Powder Keg”

The head of the Democrats, Yair Golan, sharply attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, this evening (Saturday), following the attack that occurred yesterday in the area of Havat Gilad. At the rally to open his party’s election campaign in Rabin Square, Golan said the two are “turning Judea and Samaria, on the eve of elections, into a powder keg that endangers human lives and Israel’s security.”

“The blood of our soldiers that has been spilled and will be spilled — is on their hands,” Golan claimed.

According to him, if the Democrats come to power, the party will act to end the “trips” in Areas A and B, to eradicate “Jewish terror,” to dismantle what he called “Ben Gvir’s armed militias,” and to remove “Smotrich’s illegal outposts.” “The IDF will return to dealing with protecting Israel’s security,” he added.

At the rally, in which, according to the party, more than 10,000 people participated, the Democrats launched the election campaign and their plan to repeal the laws of the “judicial revolution” and “strengthening democracy.”

Golan said that on the first day of his party’s entry into the government, it will act to repeal the laws advanced by the coalition, to establish a state commission of inquiry, and to pass laws that would prevent criminally indicted defendants from serving in the government.

“This is what a camp that has gotten up on its feet looks like: it faces reality in the eye and decides to take the helm into its own hands,” Golan said.

“We didn’t go out to the streets just to settle for protest. We came to win. We came to lead. We came to save Israel.”
