Including positions abroad: roles offered to Gantz by Eisenkot's circle; both sides deny
Senior officials from Gadi Eisenkot's circle met with representatives of Benny Gantz to discuss high-level government roles, including head of the National Security Council. Gantz has reportedly declined the offers, and both sides have officially denied that the meeting took place.
Against the backdrop of political contacts and attempts to forge alliances ahead of the elections, it has emerged that about 48 hours ago, a meeting took place between senior officials from Gadi Eisenkot's circle and representatives of Benny Gantz.
During the discussions, Gantz was offered very senior positions, but for the time being, he is refusing to accept them. Among the roles raised as an option for Gantz is the position of head of the National Security Council.
The meeting occurs amidst ongoing political maneuvering within the bloc. It was previously reported that Gantz met with the chairman of "Ha-Achdut," Gilad Erdan, and that the two agreed to meet again in the coming days.
These contacts take place three months after Erdan denied the possibility of joining forces with Gantz. It is understood that behind the scenes, Ayelet Shaked, the former Minister of Justice and Interior, is facilitating the mediation; she collaborated for many years with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who currently leads the "Be-Yachad" faction.
Following the publication, both sides denied the reports. The "Blue and White" party stated that the claims were a "complete lie" and that no such meeting occurred. Eisenkot's circle also denied the report, stating that no meeting had been held between the parties.
