Nearly two decades after starting as an Israeli internet sensation and rising to the stages of New York, the world-renowned Voca People are returning to Israel. The show, created by actor and director Lior Kalfo and composer and musical director Shai Fishman, will launch a new nationwide tour this October.

Known for their iconic all-white outfits and white face paint, Voca People broke into the international spotlight through viral YouTube videos. This launched a global career spanning performances in approximately 50 countries, a run of over a year off-Broadway, and appearances on major television programs worldwide, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. According to the production, about 3 million people have watched the show live globally.

Tour Dates and Venues

The upcoming Israeli tour is produced by the toMix group. It is scheduled to open on October 14 at the Airport City Culture Hall, followed by a performance on October 15 at the new Uptown Music Club in Tel Aviv.

The performance features eight singers who use only their voices to create an entire musical experience, combining a cappella and beatboxing to replicate drums, guitars, trumpets, and various sound effects. The repertoire includes hits by Queen, Elton John, Madonna, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars.

The comedic premise remains unchanged: eight aliens from the planet Voca land on Earth and communicate solely through "musical energy."

From Viral Video to Global Phenomenon

Creator Lior Kalfo, who conceived the idea 20 years ago, shared:

"It started with small ambitions of just a few acts for events. In 2009, the big bang happened when we uploaded a video to YouTube that reached 5 million views, which was considered crazy at the time. The video reached 11th place globally, and we received calls from all over the world wanting to book us. After a producer from Brazil sent an advance payment just to get us to come, we realized we had something special and started working on a full show."

When asked if the concept remains relevant to modern audiences, Kalfo noted:

"We have introduced contemporary songs, but there is something about the innocence of the past that we have lost a bit, which connects with everyone. Today we target all ages; children hear the songs and enjoy the show. It turns out that the innocent place we might have lost still works."
