From TikTok Star to Reality Survivor: Lera Greensess Takes on the Island
Internet star and model Lera Greensess is capturing the spotlight once again as the hit reality show "Survivor" returns to television screens. At the festive launch of the 2026 season, Greensess shared her raw experiences in a special interview with the ice website, opening up about the stark transition from curated digital content to harsh wilderness conditions. Now 19 years old and boasting four million followers on TikTok, she is striving to break past the boundaries of social media and prove herself on the small screen.
Greensess's life story is defined by complex transitions and rapid adaptation. Born in Odessa, Ukraine, she faced a major move to Israel at just 11 years old without knowing a word of Hebrew. Settling in Ashdod, she mastered the language within two months. While her mother and sister eventually returned to Ukraine, she chose to stay behind in Israel with her father. She began her digital journey on Musical.ly at age 13, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, she elevated her productions with the help of her ex-partner's family, eventually creating viral videos that amassed tens of millions of views worldwide.
"I was used to controlling everything—my makeup, hair, lighting, editing, everything. Suddenly, you control nothing at all and you just have to survive," Greensess shared.
Surviving War, Military Service, and the Wilderness
Alongside her digital success, Greensess has navigated significant personal and security challenges. When the war in Ukraine broke out in 2022, she helped rescue her mother and sister from the conflict zone and brought them safely to Israel. Balancing her mandatory military service in the VVS Israel (Israeli Air Force) public relations sector, she also dabbled in music, studied acting, and secured commercial modeling campaigns. Her participation in "Survivor" marks a defining turning point in her career, offering a chance to connect with a wider mainstream audience without filters or studio lighting.
During the interview, Greensess also touched on how she managed her digital presence while filming in the remote location. She pre-recorded content and entrusted her best friend with posting it, though observant followers quickly guessed she had left the country. When asked about her potential plans if she wins the grand prize, she smiled and replied, "If I win, I need to do grown-up things—invest in real estate, save, donate a portion, and spend a little on nonsense. My secret is hard work from a very young age."
