Dangerous Meat Seized in Tamra: 500 kg Destroyed, Owner Questioned
During a Ministry of Agriculture operation, approximately 500 kg of meat unfit for human consumption was seized at a butcher shop in Tamra. The products lacked required veterinary documentation, posing a significant health risk.
As part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and maintain the quality of animal-based food products, approximately 500 kg of meat unfit for human consumption were seized at a butcher shop in the city of Tamra. Inspectors from the Northern District 'Pitzuach' unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security conducted a proactive inspection, during which numerous deficiencies were discovered.
The operation was carried out in close cooperation with Tamra police officers and representatives of the Tax Authority. During the inspection, officials uncovered a large quantity of meat stored without the required veterinary documentation, with no way to verify its origin.
"This is animal produce that has not undergone any sanitary or veterinary inspection as required by law, and therefore posed a real and immediate danger to the health of consumers," they stated.

Due to the health risk and in accordance with the order of a certified veterinarian, the entire quantity of seized meat was destroyed. The owner of the shop was summoned for questioning, and legal proceedings were initiated against him.
The Ministry urges the public to purchase animal-based products—meat, poultry, fish, and eggs—only at authorized points of sale that comply with legal and sanitary regulations.
"Inspectors of the 'Pitzuach' unit work around the clock to ensure that the agricultural produce reaching consumers' homes is healthy and safe for use," said Moshe Aharak, Director of the Central Unit for Enforcement and Investigations (Pitzuach) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
