Venice Expands Tourist Entry Fee System to 72 Days for 2027 Season
Venice will expand its tourist entry fee system in 2027 to cover 72 days between March and August, with fees potentially reaching 10 euros as local authorities combat mass tourism.

Venice city council is expanding its tourist entry fee system for 2027, applying the charge across 72 days throughout the peak tourism season—12 days more than in 2026. According to the approved calendar, fee collection will begin on March 26, Good Friday, and conclude on August 15.
Most selected dates fall on weekends from Friday through Sunday, alongside holidays and periods anticipated to experience heavy visitor surges. Operating hours will also be extended, running from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, half an hour longer than the schedule implemented in 2026.
The municipality has established that entry fees for 2027 could reach up to 10 euros, though the final tariff structure remains undetermined. Additional arrangements concerning exemptions, booking procedures, payment methods, and inspections will be finalized at a later date, while the launch date for the 2027 booking portal has not yet been announced.
This policy represents a rapid expansion of a system first introduced as a pilot in 2024 across just 29 days. The number of charged days rose to 54 in 2025 and 60 in 2026, culminating in 72 days next year—nearly 2.5 times the duration of the inaugural rollout. The collection season is also lengthening significantly, stretching from late March through mid-August, and including two continuous blocks from April 23 to May 2 and May 28 to June 6.
