Man critically injured in apartment fire in Ashdod

Firefighters rescued a man in his 70s from a fire that broke out overnight between Monday and Tuesday in an apartment on Palmach Street in Ashdod. The victim, suffering from severe smoke inhalation, is in critical condition.
An MDA team evacuated him to Assuta Hospital in the city while performing resuscitation efforts. The fire ignited in an apartment on the first floor of a four-story building. Firefighters summoned to the scene entered the apartment, conducted searches, and rescued the trapped individual. They worked to extinguish the fire, locate additional casualties, and ventilate the structure.
The report of the fire was received at the MDA 101 dispatch center in the Lachish region at 03:53. MDA paramedics Avraham Fromer and Chaim Gitler said:
"We saw thick black smoke rising from the first floor of the building. We joined the firefighting forces who handed over a man in his 70s who was unconscious, without a pulse, and not breathing after inhaling a large amount of smoke. We provided advanced medical treatment, including prolonged resuscitation efforts, and evacuated him to the hospital while his condition remained critical as we fought for his life."
