Senior Likud member admits: "If elections were held today, the situation would be difficult"
Against the backdrop of stagnation in the mandate polls, Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana admitted that the coalition's electoral situation is difficult, but claimed that the trend can still be changed.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana addressed the coalition's electoral situation yesterday (Sunday), and during a Likud party conference in Petah Tikva, he admitted that the current situation is not simple.
At the same time, he emphasized that there is still time to try and change the trend by presenting the government's achievements. "We need to convince the public, there is still time to show the achievements. But if the elections were held today, the situation would be problematic. The situation is difficult," Ohana said at the conference.
His remarks come against the backdrop of the latest Maariv poll, according to which the coalition remains with only 49 mandates. On the other hand, the Zionist opposition parties together reach 57 mandates.
According to the poll, with the help of the four mandates of the HaBayit HaTzioni party, led by Chili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel, the camp could reach a majority of 61 mandates.
Also, on the question of suitability for the position of Prime Minister, there was no change compared to the previous poll. Naftali Bennett receives 43% support against 40% for Benjamin Netanyahu, and the gap between the two remains as it was.
At the same time, Gadi Eisenkot continues to lead over Netanyahu by a larger margin on the question of suitability for the position of Prime Minister. Eisenkot receives 47% support, compared to 38% for Netanyahu, and here too the gap remains unchanged.
