Large Restaurant in Kafr Manda Closed for 30 Days Over Illegal Employment
Border Police detectives arrested seven illegal aliens employed and housed by a restaurant owner in Kafr Manda. The employer has been arrested, and the Northern District Commander has signed administrative closure orders for the establishment.
Last week, detectives from the Border Police's 'Erez' unit conducted a raid in Kafr Manda as part of a proactive operation aimed at combating the employment and housing of illegal aliens. During the operation, forces located a warehouse being used for accommodation.
Inside the structure, seven residents of the West Bank were found to be in Israeli territory without legal permits. The suspects were immediately arrested and transferred to the central unit of the Northern Border Police for further investigation.
The investigation revealed that the seven individuals were regularly employed at a large restaurant in Kafr Manda. Consequently, police arrested the business owner on suspicion of employing and housing them.
Evidence was significantly bolstered by the restaurant's own social media activity. It was discovered that the business had posted promotional content online in which the suspects were clearly visible working on the premises.
Legal proceedings moved quickly, and on Thursday, prosecutor's statements were filed against the employer and the seven detainees. The court granted the police's request to extend their detention by five days ahead of the filing of indictments. Parallel to the criminal proceedings, the Northern District Police Commander, Nitzav Meir Eliyahu, signed two administrative closure orders for a period of 30 days — one for the restaurant and one for the housing structure.
