Senior CyberArk executive and former Mamram commander joins unicorn Upwind

The cyber unicorn Upwind, which develops a platform for cloud infrastructure security, is appointing Omer Grossman as Chief Business Officer. Grossman brings extensive experience in cyber defense, having previously commanded the IDF's Mamram unit.

The cyber unicorn Upwind, which develops a platform for cloud infrastructure security, is appointing Omer Grossman as Chief Business Officer. In his previous role, Grossman held a senior position at CyberArk, which was acquired by Palo Alto Networks for approximately $25 billion.

Grossman joins Upwind with extensive experience in the fields of cyber, cloud infrastructure, senior management, and national cyber defense. In his last role, he served as Chief Trust Officer and head of the CYBR unit at CyberArk. Before joining CyberArk, Grossman commanded the IDF's Cyber Defense Center and managed cyber defense operations at the national level. Previously, he headed Mamram, the IDF's computing and information systems center, and was responsible for cloud services, infrastructure, and data across all branches of the military, including the General Staff.

Grossman holds a bachelor's degree in physics and electrical engineering from Tel Aviv University and a master's degree in government information systems management from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

The Israeli startup Upwind was founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar (CEO), Lavi Friedman (Chief Growth Officer), Tal Zur (CTO), and Liran Polak (Chief Software Architect). Since its inception, the company has raised approximately $430 million, with its latest funding round valuing it at over $1 billion. Among the company's investors are Bessemer, Cyberstarts, Picture (founded, among others, by entrepreneurs Mickey Boodaei and Dan Amiga, co-founders of Transmit Security and Island), Greylock, Leaders Fund, Craft Ventures, TCV, Alta Park, Cerca Partners, Swish Partners, and Stephen Curry's Penny Jar Capital.
