Sharren Haskel and Ale Yarok to run together in elections: "A natural connection and closing a circle"
The Israel T'hila party of MK Sharren Haskel, which is currently far from the electoral threshold, has announced a merger with Ale Yarok. The joint list aims to promote cannabis legalization and comprehensive reform in the medical cannabis sector.
The Ale Yarok party is joining Israel T'hila, led by MK Sharren Haskel. At a launch event held Thursday evening in Tel Aviv, Haskel and Ale Yarok chair Nir Yuftero announced a merger and a joint run for the upcoming elections. According to all polls, Haskel's party is currently not close to passing the electoral threshold.
The move is intended to create a new political force, connecting the security and economic platform of Israel T'hila with the long-standing struggle of Ale Yarok for individual liberty, legalization, and the rights of medical cannabis patients. A central focus of the merger is providing support to hundreds of thousands of post-trauma victims following three years of war, including soldiers and civilians dealing with physical and mental injuries.
As part of the joint campaign, the list will work to promote cannabis legalization, deep reform in the medical cannabis field, the removal of bureaucratic barriers for patients, and the advancement of research into innovative treatments for post-trauma and mental health.
"This is a natural connection and closing a circle for me," said Haskel. "For years I fought in the Knesset for legalization, individual liberty, and an end to the unnecessary persecution of citizens. Ale Yarok led this struggle long before the political system was ready to listen."
Nir Yuftero, chair of Ale Yarok, added:
"For years we fought for patients whom the system abandoned and for citizens whom the state turned into criminals because of an outdated policy. I paid a heavy personal price for this struggle, but I never stopped believing that it is possible to change."
