Without a lead: Police struggle to identify the mastermind behind Yanis Yushaev's murder
Police will request a second extension of the detention of a 54-year-old northern resident suspected of murdering Caucasian mafia boss Yanis Yushaev in the Or Akiva and Sharon region. The suspect denies involvement and remains silent, while investigators have yet to determine who ordered the hit.
Tomorrow, the police will request for the second time that the court extend the detention of the suspect in the murder of Yanis Yushaev, the head of the Caucasian mafia in Or Akiva and the Sharon region. The suspect, a 54-year-old resident of the north and a known criminal, was arrested last Tuesday while hiding in a storage room in a residential building in Hadera. According to investigators, he allegedly shot Yushaev in the head at point-blank range at the entrance to a restaurant near Caesarea two days prior.
Police investigators believe the suspect did not wear a silicone mask during the liquidation, which allowed him to be identified on security camera footage. However, he denies everything. "I don't even know who Yanis is," he claims during interrogations, otherwise maintaining his right to remain silent.
Police acknowledge that even with the suspect in custody, the investigation is far from over, as they have yet to identify who ordered the hit. It is clear to them that the murderer was merely a tool in the struggles between criminal organizations.
Investigators hope to break the suspect during interrogation. In the meantime, he is not cooperating, and aside from a physical resemblance to the figure in the video, police currently lack further evidence linking him to the crime. Ultimately, it is possible that the murder may remain unsolved.
