Police and military investigators have arrested 21 civilians and non-commissioned officers on suspicion of a multi-million shekel financial fraud scheme involving engineering equipment works in the Gaza Strip. The joint operation, conducted by the Lahav 433 national fraud unit, the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division (MPCID), and the Beersheba VAT tax authority, followed a covert investigation into alleged bribery, money laundering, and fraud.

According to investigators, the case centers on civilian contracting companies and career military personnel involved in procuring heavy engineering machinery for the IDF during ongoing operations. Suspects were rounded up in a nationwide sweep and will face remand hearings at the Beersheba Magistrates Court and the military court in Beit Lid.

The arrests echo a previous high-profile case from April 29, when military prosecutors indicted a major for aiding the enemy, taking bribes, and smuggling goods into the Gaza Strip. Investigators allege the officer abused his authority to bypass checkpoints and smuggle millions of shekels worth of contraband—including electronics and communications equipment—into Gaza using an IDF escort.
