The photos and videos sparked an uproar, and now attention is turning to UEFA and the question of whether the organization will decide to open a disciplinary procedure against the Polish club.
As of now, UEFA has not issued an official statement regarding the incident, and therefore it is unclear whether an investigation has been opened following the footage. Now, after the match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, the ball is effectively in UEFA's court. If the organization determines that the footage does indeed show prohibited behavior and that it is possible to identify the fans or link the event to the club, Katowice could face a disciplinary procedure and sanctions.
The incident is receiving additional attention against the backdrop of sanctions and disciplinary discussions that have concerned Israeli teams within the framework of European competitions. At this stage, however, no official decision has yet been published by UEFA regarding the incident in Katowice.
