Indictment Filed in Fatal Soreq Junction Crash That Killed Two Minors
The State Attorney Office filed an indictment against a 25-year-old driver for causing the negligent death of two minors in a severe traffic accident at the Soreq junction.

The State Attorney Office filed an indictment on Tuesday at the Central District Traffic Court against Adi Ashkeir, a 25-year-old resident of Tira, charging him with causing the death by negligence of two minors aged 16 and 17 in a fatal road accident at the Soreq junction about five months ago.
According to the indictment filed by Adv. Einav Vinograd from the Central District Attorney Office, in May of this year Ashkeir drove a private minibus on Highway 7 from Jerusalem to Ashdod without mandatory insurance. The minibus carried nine passengers, most of them minors.
At the Soreq junction, a truck driver stopped on the right shoulder and began slowly merging into the right lane while signaling. Ashkeir drove behind the truck but, despite a clear field of vision and the truck signaling, failed to notice the vehicle, did not maintain distance, and crashed into the rear trailer.
As a result of the collision, two minors—Aharon, 17, from Ashdod, and Shira, 16, from Sde Uziyahu, who were returning from the Western Wall—suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Other minors sustained injuries of varying degrees. The prosecution has requested the suspension of the defendant's driving license until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
