Pregnant Woman and Unborn Baby Die at Sheba Medical Center

A 30-year-old resident of Rishon LeZion tragically passed away over the weekend following a severe medical complication during pregnancy. According to available reports, the woman, who was 29 weeks pregnant and whose condition had been classified as a high-risk pregnancy, lost consciousness at her home and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

She was transported by Magen David Adom paramedics to Sheba Medical Center, where medical teams immediately transferred her to the obstetrical operating room. Doctors fought desperately to save her life, connecting her to an ECMO heart-lung machine. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, physicians were ultimately forced to pronounce the deaths of both the mother and the unborn child. Both were laid to rest at the Gani Esther cemetery in Rishon LeZion.

The Sheba Medical Center released an official statement confirming the tragic event: "During Shabbat, a pregnant woman in her 30s at 29 weeks of gestation was brought to Sheba Medical Center by MDA crews after being found at home in critical condition. She was rushed to the delivery room operating theater, where medical teams continued to fight for her life and connected her to an ECMO machine. Despite all efforts, we were forced to confirm the deaths of the mother and the fetus. The incident has been reported to the Ministry of Health, and Sheba Medical Center extends its deepest condolences to the family."

According to media reports, the woman was known in her community as a dedicated and beloved educator, working as a municipal kindergarten assistant. Friends and colleagues remembered her as an exceptional and devoted professional.

This tragic incident echoes a similar case from last April, when 35-year-old Reut Cohen from Ra'anana, who was 28 weeks pregnant with twins, collapsed at home and passed away alongside her unborn children after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
