A full circle: Rehabilitation Division Director to lead Loewenstein Medical Center
After leading the national rehabilitation system through unprecedented challenges, the senior director is leaving the Ministry of Health to return to manage the medical center where he began his professional career.
After four years as Director of the Rehabilitation Division at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Yaron Sahar is returning to the place where he began his professional career. He will assume his position as Director of the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center on September 1st.
Dr. Yaron Sahar has been officially appointed Director of the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center of the Clalit Group. He will replace Dr. Alexandra Plavsic, who served as acting director, and will succeed Dr. Hagai Amir, who is retiring.
The new appointment marks a full circle for Dr. Sahar, who started his professional journey at Loewenstein. He completed his residency in rehabilitation medicine at the center, served as a senior physician in the neurological rehabilitation department, and from 2008 to 2021, managed the traumatic brain injury rehabilitation department. Over the years, he has gained extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary systems and has accompanied patients through complex rehabilitation processes.
Dr. Sahar, a specialist in physical and rehabilitation medicine and medical administration, holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Tel Aviv University and is a graduate of the Inbar program. His management experience extends beyond the hospital. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as Chairman of the Israel Association of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and in 2021, he was appointed Director of the Rehabilitation Division at the Ministry of Health. In this role, he was a key partner in shaping national rehabilitation policy, and in the past year, he led the rehabilitation system's preparation for the challenges of the Iron Swords war and the treatment of a large number of casualties.
"Returning to Loewenstein is for me both a professional and emotional full circle. I am taking on this role with a deep sense of mission, especially at a time when the rehabilitation system in Israel is facing unprecedented challenges," Dr. Sahar said upon his appointment.
Dr. Sahar added that he intends to continue establishing the medical center's status as a leader on a national and international level, with an emphasis on clinical excellence, innovation, and training the next generation, based on "a belief in the power of rehabilitation to restore hope, function, and quality of life to patients."
