Record in migration: Almost 100,000 left the country for a period of at least 3 months

Over 90,000 Israelis left Israel for a period of at least three months in 2025, according to data published today, Monday, in a new study by Tel Aviv University. This figure is almost identical to the record set in 2024.
The university is looking to shorten the wait for official migration data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, which is only compiled at the end of the year, and therefore examined a shorter time window of three months. However, it should be noted that not everyone who left Israel for such a period will actually become "emigrants"; only about 55% of them are estimated to leave permanently, while others may have traveled for a long trip or a semester of studies abroad.
Conversely, a comparison to the same short time window in previous years allows for earlier identification of migration trends. For example, between 2023 and 2025, 268,930 Israelis left according to the three-month index, while between 2013 and 2015, only 183,219 left according to the same index. The data suggests that 2025 will remain around record levels of emigration, although it is too early to determine the exact final number.
