Israel Katz left in the middle of a security discussion to attend an event for a Likud associate, against the backdrop of the party's primaries. The Prime Minister was unaware of the minister's whereabouts and asked about him during the meeting. His office stated that he held a series of security discussions and does not detail his participation in forums.
During a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu turned to Minister of Defense Israel Katz, only to discover that he was not present. Katz was, in fact, attending the wedding of the son of Kiryat Ata Mayor Yaakov Peretz, who is identified with the Likud party.
Minister of Defense Israel Katz left the cabinet meeting earlier than expected in the middle of the discussion to attend the event, as reported by News 13 political correspondent Michael Shemesh. The wedding took place against the backdrop of upcoming party primaries. During the meeting, Benjamin Netanyahu asked: "Where is the Minister of Defense?"
In response, the Minister of Defense's office stated: "Minister of Defense Israel Katz held a series of security discussions yesterday for nearly 10 hours at the Ministry of Defense and the Prime Minister's Office, and he does not intend to detail the security forums in which he participates."
