Hit-and-run accident in Eilat: A driver under a court-ordered license suspension left the scene of the accident and was located within hours by traffic investigators.
Traffic investigators from the Eilat District Police located within hours a driver suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run accident in the city yesterday (Wednesday). The driver left the scene without providing his details, and a subsequent check revealed that he was driving while under a court-ordered license suspension.
According to the investigation, at approximately 11:35, a resident of Fureidis in his 50s, who works in Eilat, was driving a private vehicle on Hativat Golani Street. Upon reaching the roundabout at the intersection of Hativat Golani and HaMelacha streets, he was involved in a collision with an electric bicycle rider. The cyclist was evacuated by ambulance in light condition, examined, and released.
The investigation reveals that a verbal confrontation occurred after the collision, following which the driver left the scene without providing his details or receiving permission to do so. Authorities clarified that this is not a case of abandonment, but rather a suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident without providing details as required by law. The suspect was driving under a court-ordered license suspension, while the vehicle's license had expired and it lacked valid insurance.
