A serious incident occurred on Wednesday at the Amital Elementary School in Petah Tikva, where a second-grade student attacked the school's vice principal.

According to the Israel Teachers Union, the student entered the school secretariat and began climbing dangerously on a shelving unit. The vice principal approached him to calm him down, but the child refused to cooperate, entered the deputy directors' room in an emotional state, and launched a violent assault.

The student hurled a keyboard, a megaphone, and a large metal stapler at the vice principal, while also kicking, pinching, and scratching her. He subsequently grabbed an electrical cord and whipped her with it, cursing and pulling at her shirt. The union noted that this was not an isolated incident, pointing to a history of ongoing violence directed at students and staff members.

Michael Pinto, Deputy Secretary-General and Head of the Professional Union Department at the Israel Teachers Union, strongly condemned the attack. "The sequence of violent incidents against teaching staff requires us to draw a clear red line. Educators cannot continue coming to work while exposed to kicks, thrown objects, and physical assaults. The Teachers Union will not accept a reality where the safety of educators is compromised," Pinto stated.

Rawit Giladi-Gatnyu, head of the Petah Tikva branch of the Israel Teachers Union, emphasized that systemic solutions are urgently required. She stressed that while the educational staff attempted to contain and soothe the student, responsibility cannot rest solely on teachers when violence continually escalates, demanding immediate guarantees for staff and student safety.
